Visting Exuma with kids
Traveling to the Bahamas as a family is an unforgettable experience. My three girls were chatting last week about how our family vacation to Grand Exuma Island was one of their all time their favorite beach vacations. From relaxing on pristine beaches to boating across crystal clear waters, the Bahamas offers a perfect blend of relaxation and fun for everyone. If you’re considering a trip to the Bahamas with your kid, stop daydreaming and start booking your memories!
When we visited the Bahamas our girls were 6, 7 and 9. We stayed 5 nights on the island at two difference spots. We always love to mix up where we stay because it make the trip feel like two vacation in one and it allows us to take in more of the Island staying at multiple locations. I usually try to budget on the first location and splurge a little on the second spot. For the Bahama, both locations were a huge hit and we couldn’t recommend them enough!
Paradise Bay
For the first hotel, we wanted to be beachfront with a restaurant on site and no crowds. It also important to be able to walk out the door and be on to the beach and not worry about finding an open beach chair. Paradise Bay ticked every single box plus our kids were in a separate room. We booked a two bedroom oceanfront villa all to ourselves – all for under $350 a night – YES Please! Some of the best free perks of the hotels were the beachfront cabanas and free kayaks. The onsite restaurant is called Cocoplum. It can get crowded for dinner so I would recommend reservations as there’s not much else close by. And make your reservations for INDOORS. When the sun sets, the bugs can come out. And they can be brutal. Some restaurant’s we tried to visit were even closed because of mosquitos. Ha. So just be aware. We never had an issue during the day, the winds from the water probably helped keep them at bay. Paradise Bay also has a fabulous beach bar when it’s open, some days it is, some days it is not. I never did understand the schedule other than it was open when the bartended showed up. We loved the fresh Pina-coladas and smoothies when they were available!
